Matrix (powerword: gaytricks) is a poorly designed webshit IRC ripoff, not to be confused with [Gaytricks] the homeserver which is far more entertaining and interesting to read about.

Matrix has two “selling """"""""features""""""""”, one being that you can self-host. This is technically a feature if you are mentally disabled and don't know what IRC is (which most gaytricks users probably don't) and the other being that the protocol is federated (irc is was federated but who cares) which means gaynigger:disroot.org can spam invites to #rcucks.disroot.org to all your users and you can't do anything about it. Alternatively, you can counter invite-spam which will probably make them mad (make a bot for that).
